Despite setting out in pouring rain we were lucky with the weather as we must have picked pretty much the only dry spot in England that day! The house has an interesting history and the 7-acre, beautifully maintained gardens are wonderful . There was also a very informative optional garden tour which  brought the history of  the whole venue to life, and the cafe provided excellent value food for those whose feet were beginning to ache!
